Types of Penile Prostheses
This video provides an illustrated demonstration of how to work a three-piece, inflatable penile prosthesis implant and what it would look like before and after inflation.
Penile prostheses are made in various types with various features. Surgeo penile implant packages offer you choice of implant types, all of which are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Three-piece inflatable
The most commonly implanted model, the three-piece inflatable prosthesis can be used to treat chronic, organic, erectile dysfunction (impotence). Some of these come pre-impregnated with antibiotics, which helps to lower the risk of infection.
Two-piece inflatable
Intended for use in the treatment of chronic, organic, male erectile dysfunction (impotence). This model offers much of the same flexibility as the three-piece model and is preferred by some surgeons.
Malleable (semi-rigid)
The simplest model with the fewest moving parts. The semi-rigid model does not fully fold away as do the inflatable models listed above. You can read more about the advantages of the malleable, semi-rigid penile prosthesis.
